UPDATE: It seems Apple has killed off support for 32 bit applications from running on MacOS Catalina. I would advise NOT updating until the Wine team is able. It's not going to help you play every game but it works for many popular Windows-only titles. Personally I've been using it for Age of Empires HD (not DE) and it's worked like a charm for me. And it helps you play not only Steam-based games but also some that are available on GOG and U Play (weirdly enough there Ubisoft games that run on Mac. After upgrading to macOS 10.15 Catalina, consider installing macOS 10.14 Mojave on a separate APFS volume on your computer along with Steam. This will allow you to flip over to macOS 10.14 on restart of your computer where you can continue to play all of your 32-bit Mac games. More information here.
